WIDA goes global: Leader in multilingual learning spreads its can-do attitude abroad

The WIDA International School Consortium has helped pioneer the improvement of teaching and learning for multilingualism around the world, from New Jersey to New Delhi. Using its signature "can-do" approach to learning, it has grown into a worldwide ELL network of more than 400 accredited pre K-12 international schools in more than 100 countries.

Emilie Hofacker, a School of Education alumna, will continue to impact students as the newly named director of the university’s Posse program. The initiative identifies and awards full-tuition scholarships to public high school students with extraordinary potential who may be overlooked in the traditional college selection process. UW–Madison is one of 58 partner colleges and universities that takes part in the national program.
