UW-Madison alum Strader-Brown receives honor from International Sculpture Center

June 21, 2015

UW-Madison alumnus Gabriel Strader-Brown has been awarded the International Sculpture Center's prestigious Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award for 2015.

Strader-Brown received an MFA in sculpture from UW-Madison’s Art Department earlier this spring.

The International Sculpture Center (ISC) established the annual "Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award" program in 1994 to recognize young sculptors and to encourage their continued commitment to the field. It was also designed to draw attention to the sculpture programs of the participating universities, colleges and art schools.

Strader-Brown’s honor is no small accomplishment as the jury for this honor selected only 18 pieces from the 423 student nominees and more than 952 works submitted.

The award recipients will participate in the Grounds For Sculpture's Fall/Winter Exhibition, which will be on view from October to March in Hamilton, New Jersey, adjacent to the ISC headquarters.

Strader-Brown’s work will also be featured in the October 2015 issue of the International Sculpture Center's award winning publication, Sculpture magazine, as well as on the ISC’s award-winning website at www.sculpture.org.
