UW-Madison alumna Elizabeth Schnell was selected pathologist of the year by the Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Association.
Schnell received her bachelor's degree in communicative disorders from the School of Education in 1998, and now works at Glacial Drumlin School in the Monona Grove School District.
Any pathologist in the state of Wisconsin is eligible for the award, not just those working in schools, making Schnell's accomplishment even more impressive.
from the Herald-Independent newspaper reports that Schnell was nominated for the award by the mother of a young girl Schnell worked with in kindergarten and first grade.
The article quotes Schnell as saying: “It really helps bring attention to this district, and that’s fantastic. ... It’s enjoyable having our district recognized, and I intend to say that at the awards banquet.”
In addition to this most recent honor, Schnell also won the UW-Madison School of Education's Louis Gadd Nemec Elementary Education Alumni Award in the spring of 2016.
