Alum Hamman to begin post-doctoral research post at multicultural education center in Colorado

UW-Madison alumna Laura Hamman will begin working as a post-doctoral research associate with the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Hamman received her Ph.D. from the School of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction in 2018.

In her new position, Hamman will collaborate with Millie Gort on research exploring the impact of a systemic functional linguistics approach to teaching writing in bilingual classrooms.

Hamman will also continue to work part-time as faculty member with the English as new language (ENL) program at the University of Notre Dame, teaching graduate-level classes, leading professional development workshops on supporting English learners in mainstream classrooms, and serving as a two-way immersion consultant.
