A rich collection of research from educational psychology demonstrates that elementary school students misinterpret the equal sign. In this talk, Sarah Powell will discuss how she translated this research into a series of school-based experiments for children at risk for mathematics disability as well as implications for instruction in general and special education.
Powell is an assistant professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin.
