December 06, 2017

Li Chiao-Ping Dance performed "Landed," a full length, evening concert exploring the immigration climate in the U.S., on Dec. 2 at Iowa State University in Ames.

Landed"Landed" is a MAP Fund-supported collaboration between choreographer Li Chiao-Ping and visual artist Douglas Rosenberg that brings spoken text together with Rosenberg's acclaimed, poignant visual designs and Li's signature, inventive movement to engage stories of immigration from past to present

Li is a Vilas Research Professor and a faculty member with the School of Education’s Dance Department. Rosenberg chairs the School's Art Department.

The Iowa State concert featured 15 sections of "Landed." This project premiered at the Overture Center for the Arts in March 2017 in Madison, and later presented it at New York University's Tisch Summer Dance Festival in June 2017.

The Phoenix New Times called "Between Here and There," one of the works within "Landed," a "poetic piece which perfectly balanced movement, sound and set design." That work was performed in the Breaking Ground Festival Tempe Center for the Arts in January 2017.
