Nathan appointed as Vilas Distinguished Achievement professor

UW-Madison's Mitchell Nathan was recently appointed as a Vilas Distinguished Achievement professor.

Nathan is a highly-regarded faculty member with the School of Education's No. 1-ranked Department of Educational Psychology. He also directs the Center on Education and Work.

His research and teaching focuses on basic learning theory and research methods for understanding and improving instruction and student reasoning in mathematics, engineering and STEM more broadly.

This professorship title can be carried for the duration of Nathan’s career at UW-Madison.

This honor recognizes distinguished scholarship as well as standout efforts in teaching and service. These Vilas professorships provides $75,000 in flexible funding over five years — two-thirds of which is provided by the Office of the Provost through the generosity of the Vilas trustees, and one-third provided by the school or college whose dean nominated the winner.
