In November 2015 and in recognition of American Education Week, the School put the spotlight on talented alumni who are making a difference in schools as outstanding teachers. The event was titled, “Celebrating Teachers and Teaching: A Night of Thanks.”

The School held its annual Welcome Back Bash on Sept. 1, 2016 as faculty, staff and students kicked off the 2016-17 academic year.

As part of the American Educational Research Association’s centennial year programming, AERA invited 31 people to deliver six-minute Ed-Talks in 2016 that conveyed key research findings crisply, quickly and in ways that were meant to be compelling to policy leaders about the value and relevance of education research. UW-Madison School of Education Dean Diana Hess was among those who presented in Washington, D.C. Hess’ Ed-Talk, “Political Education in Polarized Times,” is available for viewing on this YouTube page.
